About The Blog

The walls were closing in on me. “Not her, please not her!!” My Dad had just called me at 5:30 am and told me my pregnant sister had a seizure during the night. They rushed her to the ER and found a large cancerous brain tumor (Anaplastic Astrocytoma). My family knew the word cancer all too well, my Mom passed away from Breast Cancer five years earlier. We KNEW cancer. We knew the selfish disease that took and took and refused to be cured. We HATED cancer! We thought we had seen the end of it but it was showing its ugly, unwelcome face again this time with a new host.

Surgery went well. They got as much of the cancer as they could but her prognosis wasn’t good. We were heartbroken and everyone felt completely helpless. She has two young girls and was pregnant with their third.

My Sister in Law had an idea to set up a Donation page online to raise money for Jess, her husband Eric, and their daughters. The money would be used to make as many wonderful memories for their family as possible. This is when the miracles started happening. Her story was picked up by a few online websites. Strangers from all over the country were sending money, and offering assistance. Most of these people had never met Jess before and they were doing absolutely incredible things to help her. A company called Pirch Costa Mesa hosted a fundraiser for her, a Disney cast member offered to send her and her family to Disneyland, photographers offered to take pictures of the birth of their baby for free. Delta offered to cover the airfare for the family to fly to Paris. Dinners came every night along with babysitters and rides for their daughters.

The day came and Jess delivered a gorgeous HEALTHY baby girl. She had a couple of weeks to heal from the delivery and then went right into chemo and radiation. Dinners and babysitters continued to come. When her hair started falling out Eric’s barber started shaving her head for free. She has currently finished radiation but she is still going through Chemotherapy. She is a fighter and so positive throughout this entire experience!!

I have been absolutely blown away by everyone involved in lightening this heavy load!! My faith in humanity has been completely restored. In a world with so much negativity I have still witnessed so much good!! This is why I wanted to start this blog. Lets share the stories of how people, organizations and/or companies are doing things big or small to brighten someones day and change the lives of others. If you are anything like me you have a big life plan to one day (when the kids are older, we are more financially stable, I have more time, etc….) make a difference. The time will never be perfect so why not start today with something as simple as a smile to a stranger. Lets share our stories and inspire each other to be a little better and do a little more! There is no better day than today!!
