Bikers Against Child Abuse

Chief is a licensed clinical social worker and a registered play therapist. He works primarily with children between the ages of 3-8 who have been abused and hurt in one way or another. During the time of his practice he would make good changes and progress with these children but everything could get undone quickly if a perpetrator drove past the house or had access to the child. His frustration grew and grew so he decided to ask some of his biker friends to help support a child. Continue reading “Bikers Against Child Abuse”

Repeat Roses

Spread smiles to those in need. That is the philosophy of Repeat Roses and Jennifer Grove is its founder. Jennifer opened a boutique wedding and event design company, Sky Blue Events. Over time, Jennifer grew frustrated with what she saw as misguided misuse. Time, talent and resources were spent designing dazzling centerpieces of beautifully groomed blooms, which were then simply disposed of at the end of the day. When she recognized that this heartbreaking insight was actually an opportunity to shift the paradigm, she founded Repeat Roses. Continue reading “Repeat Roses”

Living in the United States and other parts of the world that are not directly affected by the Syrian Refugees its easy to turn a blind eye. Thrive Causemetics

My sister, Jess (you can read her story here), is currently battling brain cancer. Before finding out about her cancer she loved getting eyelash extensions. She had just gotten her eyelashes done a few days before having her seizure and undergoing brain surgery. In order to operate they had to shave her head. It helped her to feel feminine with a shaved head to have her eyelashes done. Once she started chemotherapy her natural eyelashes started falling out which left nothing for the eyelash extensions to adhere to. Thrive Causemetics is a company that is thinking outside of the box in order to help cancer patients feel beautiful. Continue reading “Thrive Causemetics”

Puppies Behind Bars

“At Puppies Behind Bars, we believe that dogs can change lives.  Our dogs can change the lives of prison inmates who have built walls around their emotions in order to survive in prison.  Our dogs can change the lives of law enforcement agents who are looking for hidden explosives and know that the noses on their canine companions are the surest ways to find something, and they can change the lives of wounded war veterans for whom, in many cases, war has come to feel normal while being home has felt very scary.” Continue reading “Puppies Behind Bars”

Technology has come a long way! It has helped our lives in numerous ways but there are some negative effects as well. It is impossible to go out to dinner and not see at least one person on their phone. It is becoming even more common to see every member at the dinner table on their phones.
